Play Cupid with Martha Stewart Crafts

Sonshine has Halloween and Christmas down to a science, but Valentine's Day is barely a blip on his radar. I think it's because we don't really celebrate it at home. Which makes me sad. For twelve years of schooling, Valentine was a big, happy, hopeful celebration. Since my husband's birthday falls two days prior to Valentine's Day, he always wants to celebrate that instead. How rude, huh?

But not this year. I'm making a big deal about every single holiday! I mean, why not? Valentine's Day is special and I love to celebrate it. It's full of love, hope, and fun! What better way to show those we care about how much we adore them, than with a hand crafted Valentine's gift?

Valentine's

Martha Stewart Crafts™ has brought out a whole line of beautiful Valentine Crafts that are sure to get your one and only's heart pumping and put a smile on any Valentine's face! The Martha Stewart Valentine's Day Card and Envelope Set is an adorable, wallet friendly gift, easy for little fingers to use. The set includes 18 cards and envelopes, along with six sticker sheets.

Valentine's Day
Hubber's card on the left; Sonshine's on the right
One side of the card has a LOVE bingo form. You can easily use the stickers to make a tic-tac-oh! for your Husband (as I did on the left card) or cute sayings for your Sweet Pea (as on the right card). Featuring cute and loving sayings, hearts, and candies, the stickers can help you say what you mean if the words escape you.

Valentine's Day
To help embellish our cards, we used the Wood Stamp Set Valentines Day Heart, also from Martha Stewart. The twelve rubber stamps comes in a reusable wooden box to make storage easy! Unfortunately, we had no stamp ink around and I had to be quick on my toes. Folding over a paper towel, I applied a small dollop of red, washable paint in the center and then blotted it. I had a nice, thin amount of paint and a happy toddler! When we were done stamping, the paint wiped away easily and clean up was a snap! I even set aside three stamps to use on sugar cookies, which I will make in the next few days! I believe the stamps will make a beautiful, easy Valentine design on top!

See how cute this card is? I let Sonshine choose the marker for each card (all purple, which I think looks nice against the reds and pinks) and one sticker from either the Valentine Cupcakes Dimensional Stickers or the Valentine Cupid Stickers. With each cupcake sticker, we thought of a sweet saying, like the one above. Sonshine cannot wait to give this one to his uncle!

Beatrix Privé - Luxury Lingerie for the Everyday Women

Belatrix Prive package

I've always found Valentine's Day to be the perfect excuse for a woman to pamper herself, whether she's celebrating with a significant other or not. With so much love in the air, it's hard not to get swept up in the excitement!

What better way to indulge yourself than a new set of beautiful underwear? I know, it's not usually something us mom want to think about, but a beautiful pair of panties can just make a day better, even if you're the only person who knows you're wearing them!

If you're a Plus Size woman (although, I prefer using the term Curvy), it can be a daunting task to find any kind of flattering, attractive lingerie, let alone, thongs. Yes, you read that right, thongs. I mean, regardless of your dress size, nobody wants panty lines!

Beatrix Privé is a one of a kind, one size stretch thong made for women sizes 16-20. Made in the USA from imported lace and silky charmeuse, a light weight satin, these thongs have wide, stretch-lace waist band can be adjusted to sit across your hips or midsection to flatter and fit curvy women in bold, exciting prints and colors

“I created beatrix privé for them – for the full-figured, fashion-forward women who want comfortable, yet sexy panties that match their bras, fit comfortably under shapewear and also thrill that certain someone when worn alone,” said Davis.
So go ahead and get yourself a little something special this Valentine's Day. Take advantage of the Free Ground Shipping Beatrix Privé is offering right now!

2013 | Goals and Changes

So, the new year is finally here and in full swing, huh?

I've spent the past few weeks with Sonshine, smothering him with love and although, I'm not done with that (what mother ever is?), it's time to get my butt back into blogging.

Over the next few days, you'll see the blog take on a new look and a new vibe, hopefully. My goal is to get settled and start posting each day, starting in February. I'm trying to make blogging friends and I'm scouring the interweb for blogging ideas, how-to's, and the like. Starting my own blog made me realize that other moms doing this, have to pull and take time from other parts of their lives and I wasn't ready to do that. I think I'm finally finding a balance and I'm just go to gun it.

I've also been working on a fantasy novel with the goal to have it written by the end of summer so it can sit for a few months before I try to find publishers in 2014. And this past week, I started to up my exercising and eating a more balanced diet. My husband has been (unintentionally) setting me up to fail, but I'm determined to make it work this year. Being so stressed last year played a factor in a miscarriage. My goal is to remove what stress I can and avoid making it for myself.

Here's to 2013 finally being our families year!

What are you goals and changes for this year?

Donating to Sandy Hook Elementary | How You Can Right From Your Smartphone

I know I've been MIA the past few weeks. I apologize and will be hitting the ground running right after the New Year. But, part of that reason has been my desire to spend more time with my family, especially my preschooler since that tragic Friday.

I'm not going to go into much detail, we've all said our pieces either online or in person to others. All I will touch on here is how it has changed me as a mother and a citizen of the world. My goal is to be kinder to my child and those I meet in life.

But I did want to share a way with you, my reader, that can help the families and school children at Sandy Hook Elementary. Mary Minno, the founder of Paystick, recently got in touch with me about a way to donate and help raise money for the families affected.

You can read all about this amazing company, Paystick a new technology company from Standford Venture Studio right here.

To donate this way, you will have to use a smartphone
  1. Download the Paystick app on your iPhone or Android phone
  2. Scan the QR code on the image below
  3. Type in your desired donation amount

A simple, yet profound way to make an impact. I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
